Ross Wimer, Architecture Lead, Americas, Senior VP, AECOM
Ross leads AECOM’s national architecture and interiors practice. Wimer is known for exploring the link between architecture and engineering, and for an emphasis on the environmental performance of design. Spanning 20 cities on five continents, his work ranges from large city planning projects, to airport and industrial design. His award-winning projects include The Ledge at Skydeck, Chicago; Changi Airport Terminal 3, Singapore; the Chicago 2016 Olympic Bid Master Plan; Infinity Tower, UAE; Zhengzhou Greenland Plaza, China; Marina Bay Master Plan, Singapore; Tianjin Tanggu Transportation Hub, China; and the Greenland Suzhou Center.
Wimer’s projects have been published widely and shown at distinguished art exhibitions and institutions such as the Venice Biennale, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His projects have also received numerous awards, including three Progressive Architecture awards. Wimer continues an active relationship with academia as a visiting design critic at Harvard University (where he earned a master of architecture degree with commendation in 1988), Yale University (where he earned a bachelor of arts degree with distinction in 1984), Columbia University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Parsons, Illinois Institute of Technology, and the University of Illinois, Chicago.
