Rama Chorpash, Industrial Designer & Director of Product Design, Assoc. Professor, Parsons School of Design, NYC

As a generalist industrial designer, Rama designs benchmark products to create useful and sublime objects. His diverse projects
include an office furniture system with Herman Miller that emphasized agile on-demand production and a batch production potato
masher for the Museum of Modern Art store. While many projects grow out of the concept of “Manufacturing in Place,” others
extend to an international stage, ranging from his former São Paulo studio to his current New York atelier’s clients. He helped launch
Victorinox Swiss Army’s fashion brand and also worked as a Senior Project Manager/Designer at ECCO Design and played a pivotal
role in establishing the Swatch Lab New York and contributed to the Centennial Olympic Pavilion.

As a tenured associate professor at Parsons School of Design, Rama founded the MFA in Industrial Design program. His research and
scholarship promote experimental project work and public discourse in the field, enriching the broader student learning experience.
He has also served as a Fulbright Specialist, collaborating with faculty and students at The Royal Danish Academy on the topic of super-
aging society and the concept of “Designing for our future selves.” He has been an external assessor for numerous institutions, including
Emily Carr University of Art + Design and the University of the Arts Singapore. Rama is thrilled about the opportunity to review Spark
design submissions and engage in meaningful discussions with fellow jurors!
