Hugo Eccles, Creative Director, Special Projects Office
Hugo is an award-winning creative director who has worked with design industry giants Ross Lovegrove, Bill Moggridge (IDEO), Sir Rodney Fitch (FITCH) and Sir Terence Conran (Conran Group).
Hugo was trained at the prestigious Royal College of Art by Pentagram partner Daniel Weil. He started his career working at IDEO, the world’s foremost design and design thinking consultancy. After leaving IDEO, he collaborated with design superstar Ross Lovegrove before founding his eponymous studio to work with the likes of Laurent-Perrier, Ford and Nike.
In 2003 Hugo emigrated to the USA as Sir Rodney Fitch’s director of global product development, winning the Fitch consultancy nine awards in three years. He returned to London in 2010 to work with Sir Terence Conran, managing and directing his product, packaging and branding studio. In 2012 he joined Native as design director, specialising in business innovation programmes. Hugo returned to America in 2014, establishing Special Projects Office in California, the centre of global product development.
Hugo applies twenty years of experience of working with clients including Alessi, Pfizer, American Express, Kartell, Ford Motor Co., TAG Heuer, Olympus, LG and Nike. His work spans industries and categories from service design and packaging to consumer electronics and concept cars and he has won numerous international industry accolades including Business Week Consumers’ Choice, D&AD and IDSA Awards.
