Golden Gate Girder

Winner - Bronze

Competition: Spark:Communication
Designer: Mr. Kit Hinrichs - Creative Director
Design Type: Poster

Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy commissioned Studio Hinrichs to create a graphic identity to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge, which occurred in 2012. As a part of this identity, the studio created a proprietary typeface called Golden Gate Girder, as well as a poster featuring the alphanumeric system. To create this face, the designers found inspiration in San Francisco’s most iconic symbol: the Golden Gate Bridge. This bold geometric typeface takes a page from the bridge’s Art Deco styling, the rivet and girder construction, and in bridge’s familiar International Orange color.
