Tomas Ancona

Tomas Ancona, Principal, Ancona+Associates
Tomas is an experience design strategist who works with clients to conceive and design narrative journeys across digital and physical landscapes. His approach is derived from a tradition of design for large-scale visitor attractions and retail experiences, hybrid spaces composed of stories, interactions, media and architecture. A+A has evolved this multi-disciplinary design process to drive innovation across digital experiences, products, services and business transformation.

Tom began his career at several prominent architecture and exhibit design firms in New York and Boston. Soon after moving to San Francisco, he established Ancona + Associates, where for over ten years in SOMA (across from the ballpark site) he consulted with a wide variety of clients, including the Bay Area Discovery Museum, Cal Academy, Apple, Boudin Sourdough Bakery, EBMUD, NASA, Lucasfilm and MCA Universal.

In 1997, he was invited to join Nike as Global Creative Director of Retail, where he led the design of over eight Niketown stores across the US and internationally. He then moved to London to join e-business consultancy, Scient, as managing director of Customer Experience for Europe. Since 2002, his work has focused on conceiving experiences that converge across digital and physical realms for a wide range of international clients. From his office in the burgeoning West End of Portland, he has consulted with Adidas, Intel, Rio Tinto Diamonds, British Waterways, British Airways, Boots, John Lewis, Samsung and Capital One Bank.

Tom studied architecture and design at Cornell University, Columbia University, and Parsons School of Design. He received his BA in American History and Fine Arts at Wesleyan University.
