SPARK AT CUMULUS--COOL!

From September 8 to October 8, the Spark Award Winners from 2007 through 2009 will be on exhibition in Shanghai. Vice Dean LOU Yongqi, of the College of Design & Innovation at Tongji University, invited Spark to participate in the events celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Cumulus. Cumulus is the world's leading organization of design educators. Their 20th Anniversary Conference is being held at Tongji University's new College of Design and Innovation. This is both the launch of the College and the Cumulus Anniversary, so it is an excellent venue for Spark on many levels.

The kick-off event will be held at the school, September 6 --10. This year the conference theme is "Young Creators, For Better City & Better Life," which certainly echoes the Spark mission.

The conference is being produced in combination with Shanghai World EXPO2010 and Shanghai Biennale.

It will explore where and how young generation of designers can, through their talents and responsibility, improve our environment and life in a creative way. The missions and visions of design education, design research and practice for young creators, together with the economic, political and social impact will also be discussed during the conference.

Our good friends, Mark Breitenberg, President of ICSID and Provost of CCA, and Prof. Tong Huming, Director of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, are among the many distinguished speakers.
