RICHARD WILDE
Richard is Founder and Chairman of the Graphic Design and Advertising Department, School of Visual Arts, 1971-present and Principal of Wilde Design. He has published a range of well-regarded books and texts, including Visual Literacy, A Conceptual Approach to Graphic Problem Solving; Problems: Solutions, Visual Thinking for Graphic Communicators; 101 Ways to Stay Young and recently, The Senior Library. Richard’s work and articles have been included in the New York Art Directors Club Annuals, American Institute of Graphic Arts Annuals, Communication Arts Annuals, Graphis Annuals, Print Casebooks, Print Annuals, One Show Annuals, Andy Awards Annuals, Society of Illustrators Annuals, Creativity Annuals, Society of Publication Designers Annuals, Idea Magazine, Graphis, Communication Arts, Print Magazine, Art Direction Magazine, Upper & Lower Case, Vision, HOW Magazine, Step-by-Step Magazine and Critique Magazine. He has received over 150 awards including New York Art Directors Club; Andys; New York Type Directors Club; American Institute of Graphic Arts; Society of Illustrators; One Show; Communication Arts; Print Regional Design Annuals; Creativity and Society of Publication Designers and was inducted into the New York Art Directors Club Hall of Fame in 1999. Richard has sat on the Board of the New York Art Directors Club (1982-2005); Type Directors Club (1996-1998); American Institute of Graphic Arts, NY (1999); President, New York Art Directors Club, 2000-2002 and the Alumni Board of the School of Visual Arts, (2002-present)
