COMMUNITY REPORT: 2008 SHOWDOWN

We're tired. But happy. Spark's on location in San Francisco for the Phase II activities.

As of today, we've received 7/8ths of potential design entries going up into Phase 2, with more coming in until Tuesday noon.

Systems seem to be working well--Red Clay's webstore & site have been responsive, very strong and fault tolerant. (Me, faulty and not so tolerant, but not much to bother about.) Other systems good too. All support groups, helpers & partners just wonderful-- Pentagram, Clark, Mr. Meckle, sponsors Bravo, HP, Automobile, schools, vendors-- All best folks. We're blessed.

Designs are largely unpacked for Spark Seminar viewing and Jury. Very nice. Great spread of disciplines, too. Everything from aircraft interiors (two-different jets!) to bathroom fixtures, Otis College students to Zaha Hadid, BMW to Whirlpool. Many more to come. Theresa, Mgr of 07 effort, and Antonio are onsite jury management pro's. Stand back old dudes...!

Autodesk Design Gallery is beautiful. Producers Jason & Matthew, are artists--and gentlemen. Autodesk be proud.

HP is sending in big guns-- Sam Lucente, VP Design for Seminar and giant plotter to print every winner's design, 36x48", for Oct.3 Exhibition Celebration & Premiere. Dream sponsor.

Super-Jury arriving over weekend. Check out on Sparksite. 18, multi-discipline, fab talents adjudicating.

Monday/Tuesday the cool Spark Jury pda/scanners are wielded and judgments, SparkAwards and history--are made.

The stage is being set. Come see some Sparks-- at the Oct. 3rd Celebration. All at the grand new Autodesk Design Gallery in San Francisco. Must rsvp though--space limited!

Best--
